Welcome to the website of the Biographies Project of the Myanmar Institute. This is an interactive website, in which biographies of people from Burma/Myanmar are presented.
The goal is to paint a diverse picture of Myanmar’s society – historically and contemporarily. It is intended to present life careers of – more or less known – persons who have passed away together with peple from today from a variety sectors of society.
The contributions will be published in English and Burmese but can be submitted in German as well.

The projects aims at intensifying the exchange of information and perceptions on Burma/Myanmar between German speaking countries and Myanmar . Therefore, each contribution before being published will be read and commented by a member of the project – a Myanmar contribution by a German speaking person and vice versa.
To realise this ambitious task, more contributors are invited to join the project.
